CAMBA homeless shelter residents will participate in an art exhibition entitled “Studio Art Redefined: Self Expression without Boundaries”. A collection of art that tells their story in painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, printmaking and literature will be on display June 11-August 11 at the Prospect Park YMCA, 357 Ninth Street, Brooklyn, NY 11215, 7th Floor Atrium. The presentation is in conjunction with Community House H.D.F.C.
The exhibition will illuminate the “force of art and literature in empowering shelter residents to realize their full potential.” CAMBA’s dedicated art therapists and recreation staff help men and women achieve self esteem and readiness skills they so desperately need when transitioning into permanent supportive housing and job situations.
Curators for the exhibition are Candace Bowen, Jessica Fox, and Marianne Hughes, Creative Arts Therapists and Recreation Coordinators at CAMBA and Ebony Lewis, Community House H.D.F.C. The opening reception will be held on Thursday June 11 6-9 pm. CAMBA’s Mary-Beth Shine is coordinating the event.
CAMBA Acknowledges Bark Frameworks LLC, Hirsch & Associates, Jerry’s Artarama, Mobius Fine Art Services, Prospect Park YMCA and Sentinel Printing for their generous support and contributions in making this exhibition possible.
