As part of a citywide initiative, CAMBA started Jobs to Build On (JtBO) in 2007. JtBO is designed to serve Brooklyn residents who have been unemployed long term or who have limited job histories, and who are having a hard time finding jobs that last. JtBO provides clients with Fast Track job readiness preparation and training. Clients are also offered access to Earned Benefits Asset Building, a CAMBA program that provides work supports, financial literacy assistance, tax planning, and on-line application and help with public benefits. JtBO program provides job training in fields such as gourmet food retail, customer service, private security, and a bank teller training program. In a typical year, CAMBA registers 300 clients, of whom 150 are placed in jobs that provide a living wage and benefits.
