As part of a Citywide initiative, CAMBA started Jobs to Build On in 2007. JtBO is designed to serve Brooklyn residents who have been unemployed for a long term, or who have limited job histories, and who are having a hard time finding jobs that will stick. In a typical year, we register 300 clients, of whom 150 are placed in jobs that provide a living wage and benefits. We provide CAMBA’s Fast Track job readiness preparation and training. Clients are also offered access to EarnBenefits, a CAMBA program that provides work supports, financial literacy assistance, tax planning, and on-line application and help with public benefits. We provide job training in fields such as gourmet food retail, customer service, private security, and a bank tellers training program.
