CAMBA’s Summer Youth Employment Program started in 1995 and has placed Brooklyn youth ages 14 to 24 in minimum-wage work experiences. Youth primarily from Flatbush and East Flatbush work for agencies and private non-profits. Types of work include clerical, custodial, teachers’ aides, library assistants, and hospital and recreational aides. CAMBA distributes applications, conducts intake, develops jobs and monitors employment. This program currently places 400 youth in summer jobs for wage-work experience.
