The Next Step program will support individuals in achieving their educational and career goals by providing a pathway through the use of occupational training, basic skills instruction and job readiness training. Individuals will also receive developmental workshops to address issues that cause an obstacle to their educational and career aspiration in order to become economically and socially self-sufficient.
CAMBA’s Out of School Youth,(OSY) program, “Next Step,” offers out-of-school eligible students, ages 18-21, a comprehensive training to meet their individual employment and educational goals. Students eligible for the program are first enrolled in our Food Protection Manager Training that covers the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene health codes standards for food establishments/workers throughout New York City. Individuals also receive Work Readiness Training which addresses various employment necessities such as: Interview preparation skills, Job search techniques and resume writing. Individuals also receive Basic Skills Instruction to prepare them for GED exam and/or college admissions assistance. Individuals are provided enrichment sessions to cover all five subject areas of the GED exam. Program also provides supportive resources, i.e. internships, volunteer opportunities and employment placement assistance.
