The Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (CAPP) is a new program that started in 2011 and is funded by the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Maternal and Adolescent Health. CAPP provides education using evidence-based, age appropriate curricula for youth ages 11 to 13 and 14 to 21 in Ocean Hill/Brownsville at CAMBA’s Beacon 271 and Brownsville Academy. CAPP also provides educational workshops for parents, teachers and other adults in the community; assists with arranging visits to medical family planning providers; provides youth development programming; facilitates a Community Advisory Council and creates a social marketing campaign centered on sexual health awareness.
