CAMBA’s Young Adult Borough Center/Learning To Work Center, which started in 2005, is located at Erasmus High School in Flatbush, Brooklyn and helps overage/under-credited students 17 ½ -21 graduate. The program is based on the Primary Person Model wherein each student is supported by a Young Adult Development Advocate who guides them through all aspects of the program. Barriers toward graduation are removed, including those who require flexible scheduling, child care and/or employment. Support Services, which complement classroom instruction, offer opportunities and incentives that do not exist in traditional high school environments. Young Adult Borough Center currently helps 250 students move towards graduation (college is a focus) and Learning to Work Center helps place 100 students in paid internships.
