CAMBA’s Families for Kids Program started in 1994 and has been a preventive foster care program that operates in conjunction with CAMBA's Beacon Community Center. The program helps families eliminate/reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect, which often results in children entering the foster care system. It provides supportive services such as parenting workshops, parent and support groups, assistance with government entitlements, health concerns, and referrals for treatment programs to overcome barriers that may cause the family additional stress in caring for their children. Families for Kids program currently serves 45 families a year.
