CAMBA’s Rape Crisis Services & Hotline (RCS) started in 2003 and is funded by the New York State Department of Health: Women’s Bureau of Health. The program meets the needs of victim survivors of rape and sexual assault - and their families - by providing a 24-hour seven-day-a-week crisis counseling hotline at 1-800-310-2449. Victim survivors and family members may be accompanied to hospitals and/or police precincts (if requested) and to mental health counseling facilities for comprehensive services. The program offers preventive education to the community and 40-hour training for persons interested in volunteering as Crisis Hotline Counselors for CAMBA’s Rape Crisis Hotline. Since 2003 Rape Crisis Services & Hotline has served 1,374 people via the hotline in addition to 191 new clients. CAMBA’s Rape Crisis Services works in collaboration with CAMBA’s Victims Assistance Program.
