CAMBA’s Family Center started in 2001 and has been a preventive program serving families in Brooklyn’s Community Districts 9, 14 and 17. The center helps families eliminate or reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect, which often result in children entering the foster care system. The center provides supportive services, including parenting workshops, support groups, government entitlement(s), assistance and treatment program(s), and referrals to overcome barriers that may cause the family additional stress in caring for their children. The Family Center also provides individual counseling, play therapy, school advocacy and housing assistance. The Family Center currently serves 60 families a year.
