Foster Care Prevention Families for Kids

Since 1994, Families for Kids has been a preventive foster care program that operates in conjunction with CAMBA’s Beacon Community Center at Brooklyn’s PS 269.

Our goal is to help families eliminate or reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect – which often results in children entering the foster care system – by providing supportive services such as parenting workshops, parent support groups, assistance with government entitlements, health concerns, referrals for treatment programs and other barriers that may be causing the family additional stress in caring for their children.

Families for Kids currently serves 60 families a year.
