Greater Brooklyn Health Coalition (GBHC) is a coalition of almost 100 community-based organizations, hospitals, health insurance companies, home care agencies, nursing facilities, mental health agencies and educational institutions. GBHC represents the ethnic, religious and geographic diversity of Brooklyn – including the communities of Bay Ridge, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Bensonhurst, Borough Park, Brighton Beach, Brownsville, Bushwick, Canarsie, Coney Island, Crown Heights, East New York, Flatbush (Central & East), Homecrest, Sheepshead Bay and Sunset Park.
GBHC provides health education on a variety of topics to any program, its staff and clients and trains staff to implement a health literacy curriculum. Workshop topics include family planning, substance abuse, domestic violence, and healthcare access GBHC partners with programs to provide a community health outreach network and connect clients to a continuum of care.
CAMBA houses the Greater Brooklyn Health Coalition, and provides daily administrative and fiscal oversight. The coalition, formed in 1997, was a project of the Jewish Community Relations Council’s department of inter-group relations and community concerns.
