Healthy Start seeks to enhance the local community’s service system in Central Brooklyn. Project services cover pregnancy and interconceptional phases for women and infants for two years following delivery. Healthy Start increases the capacity of CAMBA’s Healthy Families America Program to service more families within the 11226 Zip Code. Healthy Start Brooklyn is a project of NYC Department of Health and Mental Health who sub-contract with CAMBA and several community-based organizations and medical institutions that addresses significant disparities in perinatal health indicators. The project focuses in disparities among women of color and immigrants, as well as those that occur by education, income, and disability.
