Homeless Intervention Program (SHIP and HIP)

Homeless Intervention Programs (SHIP and HIP) began in 1994.  CAMBA provides eviction prevention services to more than 200 people a year who are at risk of eviction.  Individuals and families receive legal services and/or benefits advocacy to prevent their eviction and may also receive follow up case management services to ensure long term housing retention.  Services include full legal representation in housing court, representation in administrative hearings (i.e. rent overcharge complaints to DHCR, NYCHA administrative hearings for housing, Section 8 termination hearings, etc.), utilities arrears assistance, etc.
