Brooklyn has one of the highest rates of HIV infection in the entire country. Starting as early as 1988, CAMBA began offering programs and services to respond to the AIDS epidemic in the local community.
Today, CAMBA provides a complete range of services for individuals and families infected/affected by HIV/AIDS, including case management, prevention, training and education, counseling and supportive services, advocacy, and transitional and permanent housing.
Divided into four main categories, our services address the full array of challenges faced by HIV-positive clients. We provide treatment adherence, access to medical care, mental health services and nutritional support services. We also offer assistance with legal issues like living wills, standby guardianship, and health care proxies, as well as consumer issues including student loan debt, credit card debt, and money judgments. Together, these services enable clients with HIV to remain healthy and to achieve self-sufficiency.
