CAMBA's Emergency Food and Shelter Program, which started in 1988, provides financial assistance to clients at risk of eviction and/or a utility shut off. Assistance is limited to one month's rent or $100 in the case of utility arrears. In order to qualify for assistance, there needs to be proof that the balance of the arrears will be paid and that the client has the ability to pay the ongoing rent. On average 10-15 arrears payments are made on behalf of clients each year. This source of funding is also used to buy emergency food supplies for the Food Pantry.
