Supportive Housing for Adults with Serious and Persistent Mental Health Illness Program, which began in 2006, provides 20 units of scattered site housing to chronically homeless single adults who are diagnosed with a serious and persistent mental illness. Units will be scattered throughout Brooklyn in apartments that meet Section 8 criteria and are located near public transportation. Apartments will have the leases in the client’s name, when possible, or in CAMBA’s name. Targeted individuals will be eligible for SSI or SSD or otherwise be able to pay 30% of their rent. Clients will contribute 30% of their income towards the monthly rent. Referrals are done through the Department of Homeless Services.
