Emergency & Transitional Housing Program started in 2001 and provides transitional housing services to New York City clients living with HIV/AIDS. Housing is provided in the form of a 24-hour congregate residence with a capacity for 8 clients. The program also has six two-bedroom apartments in the community, each of which is shared by two clients. In addition, the program provides 7 transitional community based apartments for families. The program’s goal is to prepare clients to live independently. Participation in the program is generally limited to one year. Those eligible must be diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, be HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA) eligible, single or a family and homeless or inadequately housed.
