Established in 1993, CAMBA Legal Services, Inc.(CLS) is the legal services arm of CAMBA, providing free legal services to poor and working poor New York City residents in the areas of Housing, Immigration, Government Benefits and Consumer Law.
CLS, and a partnership including three other community based providers, are the only New York City legal services providers funded to provide legal assistance using the Self Sufficiency Standard as an eligibility guide. This standard, which is based upon the actual cost of living in New York City neighborhoods, allows us to provide assistance to working families who would otherwise be unable to afford legal representation but are ineligible for traditional legal services programs.
As a community based provider, CLS is able to provide high quality legal representation in the neighborhoods in which the clients live, and within the context of a broad based services agency allowing the full range of client needs to be addressed.
