In Brooklyn, home to more than a half-million children, almost half of the borough's 153 Out-of-School-Time programs are slated to be cut in the Mayor's proposed 2013 budget. Citywide, the budget cuts will end slots for nearly 25,000 after-school children.
These programs do so much: They keep families working, provide jobs for members of the community, provide safe havens for children and support children's education well after the school day ends.
If the Mayor's budget is passed, two of CAMBA's after-school programs will be eliminated and others may see a decreased capacity starting in September 2012. We cannot let this happen.
How can you help?
Join us in the Campaign for Children and urge the Mayor and City officials to RESTORE FUNDING TO AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS:
Please take two minutes to do what you can. Only an organized and powerful response will get the funding for NYC after-school programs restored to where it needs to be.
