Beacon Community Center Brooklyn PS 271

Our school-based program in Ocean Hill-Brownsville has been administered by CAMBA since 2000. The Beacon Center @ IS 271, through a structured mix of regular programming activities and special events, serves the target population of low-income youth and families in the Ocean-Hill Brownsville section of Brooklyn. The Beacon Center serves a minimum of 1,200 participants annually.

Beacon 271’s program serves the target groups of elementary, middle and high school youth, as well as out-of-school youth ages 16 to 21 and adults 21 years and older. The program design includes both structured and drop-in activities as well as community events offered during the school year, summer and recess periods.

Activities are offered Monday through Friday and on Saturdays. CAMBA has outreach – recruitment, orientation and security plans in place.
