WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

Job Training and Placement Services: CAMBA offers a full range of Job Training and Placement Services to low-income Brooklyn residents that lead to jobs in the following fields:

CAMBA provides job placement and training to limited English speakers under a Workforce Investment Act Adult Special Populations Contract.  This program provides assessment, career advice and job placement services. Classroom training is also available for those interested in careers in the Private Security field.

R.E.A.C.H. (Redirection, Evaluation, Assessment, Career and Higher Education): This program targets low-income out-of-school youth ages 19-21 who are at risk of remaining unemployed due to, among other factors, poor basic skills, pregnant and/or parenting, no employment history or preparation. REACH offers these young adults job readiness training, occupational training, job placement, educational assistance and other support services.

Our comprehensive Workforce Development programs also serve area businesses by providing employers with screened, trained and work ready job candidates. In addition, CAMBA offers employers innovative opportunities to save money on their hiring and training costs through our Wage Subsidy Program and to upgrade the skills of their current staff at no cost to them through our Workplace Literacy Program. The Wage Subsidy Program can pay employers up to 100% of their wage costs for up to three months for hiring qualifying job candidates.  CAMBA’s Workplace Literacy Program provides basic literacy training to qualifying employees, at no cost to employers, increasing their staffs’ skill level and leading to possible job retention and advancement.

Senior Community Service Program: CAMBA’s Senior Community Service Employment Program promotes part-time employment opportunities in community service activities for unemployed, low-income seniors 55 and older, leading to unsubsidized employment.  The program allows seniors to remain involved in their community, participate in community service and earn income.

Note:  CAMBA is not an employment agency and neither receives compensation from employers or program participants for any placement services nor provides payment to employers for placing program participants.  All Workforce Development funding comes from government or private sources.
