Supervisor I (Facility Coordinator), Atlantic House Men's Shelter

​CAMBA's Shelters, temporarily housing single men, women and families, are among the most successful in NYC, resulting in placement of thousands of homeless clients in permanent and transitional housing. Recent increases in capacity, awarded by NYC DHS, have resulted in expanded professional opportunities in these Brooklyn facilities.  CAMBA's Atlantic House Men's Shelter located in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn serves 200 single men at any given time.  The majority of these clients are dually diagnosed with mental illness and substance abuse


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  The person filling this position is expected, under general supervision, to ensure the smooth day-to-day running and supervision of maintenance/driver staff and services in accordance with program goals, targets, and performance outcomes and all CAMBA and program policies, procedures, and protocols; including the following:


  • Develop, implement and manage a preventive maintenance plan that ensures all facility standards are met.
  • Provide and/or oversee the provision of minor repairs and improvements to facility not otherwise provided by facility landlord or DHS staff, i.e. installation of locks, painting plastering, and small plumbing repairs.
  • Provide and/or oversee the provision of maintenance to the facility through daily cleaning of dormitory, bathrooms, hallways, staff offices, etc.
  • Ensure contractual services (i.e. extermination, fire extinguishers, plumbers) are provided as required.
  • Ensure vehicle is properly maintained according to CAMBA's vehicle transportation policy and through completion of van maintenance checklist. 
  • Ensure that direct reporting staff is in compliance with city and state rules and regulations (i.e. DHS, OTDA, FDNY, Callahan, Dept. of State, etc.).
  • Motivate, coach and counsel direct reporting staff to excel.



  • HS Diploma or GED and 3 years applicable experience, or Associate's degree (A.A.) and 2 years' experience, or Bachelor's degree (B.A., B.S.W.) and/or equivalent experience.​
