Case Manager/Victim Advocate, Domestic Violence Empowerment Initiative

​This is a temporary full-time position.

CAMBA's Case Manager provides a comprehensive range of victim services including crisis counseling assessment and intakes, individual case management and group facilitation, conduction educational awareness workshops, information/referrals, personal advocacy, and emergency assistance, to victims of crime including domestic violence and sexual assault in Park Slope and Flatbush/East Flatbush in Brooklyn.  The Victim Assistance Counselor reports to the Program Manager of CAMBA's Violence Prevention Intervention Services Programs.​​

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual crisis counseling assessments to victims of crime including domestic violence and sexual assault
  • Conduct intakes and case management services.
  • Provide follow up contacts and information/referrals for other services needed to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and other crimes.
  • Facilitate a weekly support group for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Conduct outreach providing community residents and other service providers with information about program services
  • Collaborate outreach efforts with local precincts providing services to victims of crime and spend one day a week at the President's Family Justice Center
  • Maintain case files and all necessary documentation in a neat, clear and concise manner.
  • Attend staff team meetings and participate in case conferences.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly and quarterly reports about services provided and submit them on a timely basis.
  • Monitor participants' progress regularly and milestones reached/
  • Any and all other tasks necessary for the successful operation of the program.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. Psychology or human services related field.
  • Experience working with of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Experience facilitating groups and workshops.
  • Knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence
  • Experience working with diverse ethnic and cultural communities.
  • Outstanding organizational, critical thinking and writing skills.
  • Proven ability to serve as a dynamic team leader.
  • Enthusiasm; creativity; initiative; and the ability adapt quickly to change.
