Who We Are: CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive.  We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 160 integrated programs in:  Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach more than 65,000 individuals and families each year at our 90 locations, including 10,000 youth.  CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are in living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today
Homelessness Prevention Initiative (HomeBase) is a CAMBA program that provides case management and essential services to 4000 at-risk individuals and families in Brooklyn and Staten Island to prevent homelessness.  Individuals and families receive services that help them overcome problems with public benefits, housing, education, health care and other issues that could impede their ability to maintain stable households. CAMBA Legal Services, Inc. (CLS) is the legal services arm of CAMBA, Inc. CLS provides free civil legal services to low-income New Yorkers in the areas of consumer law, foreclosure prevention, immigration, housing law, and domestic violence assistance.  In addition to providing direct representation and providing legal advice and counsel to thousands of clients, CAMBA attorneys also engage in legislative advocacy, impact litigation in both state and federal court, provide community education and offer expert training on a wide range of issues, services that allow members of our community improve their lives. 


The person filling this position is expected, under close supervision, to interact with clients, their families, the community-at-large, and school administrative personnel to monitor attendance and participation in program activities; including the following:

  • Research and identify potential local partnerships and develop relationships with those organizations and entities where we may conduct outreach and/or refer potential clients for benefits or services including but not limited to: community agencies, schools, city agencies, elected officials, religious organizations, legal organizations, public parks, day-care centers, medical/substance abuse/mental health programs, training providers, employers, local businesses, and CAMBA in-house programs.
  • Design benefits-based presentations for community providers, local offices of government agencies, etc. to ensure their awareness of the Homelessness Prevention Initiative.
  • Coordinate any and all outreach and client recruitment activities as assigned.
  • Conduct appropriate and timely follow-up with contacts.
  • Maintain daily logs for all outreach activities; document other activities and services electronically and in hard copy as required by the program/ funder.
  • Update appointment calendars.
  • Monitor, collect, and compile daily and monthly outreach records of targeted clients.
  • Prepare travel vouchers.
  • Create and print fax cover sheets, memos, correspondence, reports, program marketing materials, and other documents when necessary.
  • Perform other clerical duties as needed, such as filing, photocopying, and collating.
  • Perform computer data entry/verification functions.
  • Act as liaison with agency, school administration and city agencies, and may attend community meetings some evenings and weekends.
  • Must be available some nights and weekends
  • Drive & Maintain Outreach Mobile unit the You Can Van.
  • Must have Valid New York State Driver's License and excellent driving history.
  • Must complete NYS Approved Defensive Driving Classes every 3 years.
  • Must take Refresher Computerized Defensive Driver class
  • Must remain insurable based on CAMBA's point system throughout the duration of employment.
  •  If required to drive 15 passenger van, must score at least 80% on computerized 15 passenger van improvement test every year.
  •  If required to drive 15 passenger van, must pass an observed Van Road Test.
  • Acknowledge review of CAMBA's Transportation Policy.
  • Bi-lingual preferred.



  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience.
