Position:       Director of Security & Operations

Reports To:  Program Manager

Location:      1424 Herkimer Street Brooklyn, NY


Responsibilities:

The Director of Security & Operations under general direction is expected to lead a team of security, maintenance and operation staff ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the facility of a 200 bed women’s shelter whom the majority are dually diagnosed with mental illness and substance abuse. 

  • Develop, implement and manage facility security and preventive maintenance plan.
  • Oversee and ensure the daily security and maintenance of the facility.
  • Conduct scheduling, planning and training of security staff to ensure that security arrangements are compliant with DHS requirements.
  • Oversee and/or ensure provision of repairs, improvements, and cleaning of facility on a timely basis.
  • Maintain equipment and tools.
  • Ensure contractual services (i.e., extermination, fire safety system, HVAC) are provided as required.
  • Ensure that City and state rules and regulations are adhered to in regards to sanitation, snow removal, sidewalk litter, DHS, OTDA, FDNY, Callahan, Dept. of State, etc
  • Develop, implement and manage the facilities security with crisis prevention and/or intervention strategies to ensure a safe and secure environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) and two years of applicable experience and/or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working in a similar setting (shelter, supportive housing, group home, etc) strongly preferred
  • Ability to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Ability to obtain F-80​
