*Director, Strategic Partnerships - Communications and Marketing Unit

 The Marketing & Communications Unit is part of CAMBA's Office of Strategic Partnerships which includes Marketing & Communications, Development, and ​Advocacy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Director of Marketing & Communications leads the development, execution, management and evaluation of the integrated marketing and communications strategy for CAMBA in order to broaden awareness within CAMBA's stakeholder audiences including funders, the media and key influencers.  The Director is supported by a Communications Manager and Graphic Designer.  The Director collaborates with the leadership team and staff members to identify internal and external communications opportunities and challenges, and defines, creates, and executes strategies to support them. This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Strategic Partnerships.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Create public relations strategy that will allow CAMBA to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with targeted, high-level external audiences;
  • Create and/or oversee all communications originating from CAMBA including press releases, web site content, social media, blog posts, newsletters, annual report, donor communications, special event collateral, and promotional materials;
  • Prepare senior leaders for media interviews and public events;
  • Serve as key contact for all media inquiries and press interviews and manage onsite media at major events;
  • Research, assemble and maintain an extensive list of media contacts, build relationships with reporters and media outlets to generate greater awareness of the mission and impact (including editorials);
  • Liaise with government agency press offices to ensure compliance with media restrictions in contracted programs;
  • Oversee all reactive and proactive interactions with the media, advising and engaging senior leadership as necessary;
  • Act as liaison to the United Neighborhood Houses on media and advocacy;
  • Ensure consistent use of marketing policies/style guide and branding efforts throughout CAMBA;
  • Ensure that all goals, targets, and performance outcomes are met on a monthly/cycle basis.

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of seven years of applicable experience and/or equivalent experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

The preferred candidate should possess experience as a journalist or communications specialist in handling calls from the press; highly collaborative; experience developing and implementing communications strategies; excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills; problem-solving experience; able to multi-task and handle high-stress crisis communications situations; ability to understand and communicate information about sensitive social services issues. Demonstrate experience in one or more of the following areas: Economic Development, Education and Youth Development, Family Support Services, HIV/AIDS Services, Housing Services and Development, and Legal Services.
