Case Planner, SafeCare Family Services - Brownsville

SafeCare Family Services (SFS): SafeCare Family Services
is an evidence-based, in-home, parenting skills training curriculum for parents who are at risk of, or who have been reported for, child maltreatment. The program is broken down into 3 curriculum modules. The Parent-Child/Parent-Infant Interactions Module targets risk factors associated with neglect and physical abuse. The Health Module targets risk factors for medical neglect. The Home Safety Module targets risk factors for environmental neglect and unintentional injury. The majority of the curriculum is conducted through home visits to eligible families. SafeCare Family Services takes a structured problem-solving approach and serves clients with at least one child in the home between the ages of 0-5, who can benefit from enhanced parenting skills, have an open case of neglect or a history of neglect, lack resources or social support, are in the Independent Living Program, are participating in a substance abuse treatment program, are receiving mental health care services and/or have demonstrated a lack of supervision and safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The person filling this position is expected, under general supervision, to: (1) aid individuals and their families requiring social service assistance and provide specific services that address the issues and behaviors that place children at risk of foster care placement; (2) interview and evaluate applicants for services, formulate service plans and goals, including short term and long term goals, and aid clients to implement service plans while promoting maximum safety, supervision and support for children and their families; (3) locate and make use of appropriate community resources for clients; (4) evaluate actual living conditions of clients though home visits.
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field and two years of applicable experience and/or equivalent experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must obtain and maintain State Central Registry (SCR) clearance and criminal history clearance through the duration of employment.
Bi-lingual, English/Spanish/Creole, preferred.
Experience having worked with fathers.
This position is located in Brownsville.
